Richard Franklin Lennox Thomas Pryor was an influential and controversial African American stand-up comedian and actor who used humor to express truths about the Black American experience. His storytelling and sharp observations reached a wide audience, and he's considered one of the greatest comedians of all time. Pryor started performing in clubs in the 1960s, developing a controversial style of race-based humor. His movies included Harlem Nights, Brewster's Millions, See No Evil Hear No Evil, Stir Crazy, Silver Streak, and The Toy.
