John Sebastian is a singer, songwriter and musician and founder of the pop/rock band the Lovin Spoonful in 1964. During his time with the Lovin Spoonful, he wrote and sang some of their biggest hits such as Do You Believe in Magic, Summer in the City, Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind, and Daydream. He left the band in 1968 to focus on his solo career. He performed at Woodstock in 1969, and released John B Sebastian in 1970. He scored a #1 hit in 1976 with "Welcome Back", the theme from Welcome Back Kotter. Sebastian is often credited with helping to popularize the art of tye-dying clothing among music fans and festival goers in the late 1960s.
