Ed Asner was an actor and former Screen Actors Guild president.  He's best known for his Emmy winning role as Lou Grant on the Mary Tyler Moore show and its spin-off Lou Grant.  He's one of the few characters to play the same character in both a comedy and in a drama.  He acted in films El Dorado, They Call Me Mr Tibbs, Fort Apache The Bronx, JFK and Too Big To Fail, and voiced Carl in the Pixar film "Up".
